student working

Entry to the School usually involves the following sequence of events:

  1. initial contact, perhaps through the website, or by personal recommendation;
  2. prospectus request;
  3. telephone call and discussion with Head;
  4. School visit, with or without child;
  5. one day visit (child spends day in lessons);
  6. three day visit (child stays at School for three days);
  7. assessment (data collected from day visits, psychological assessments and Record or Statement of Needs);
  8. place offered if assessment has been successful;
  9. liaison with education authority, usually through educational psychologist.

The aim is to determine whether or not the child will benefit from our type of provision, and benefit others from being here.

We will aim to keep you informed of your child's progress through the entry procedure and how well suited The New School is to his or her needs.
