The New School

ARTS, SPORTS & HOBBIES

football team

Many children shy away from traditional sports and games if they feel they are not good enough to contribute to a team or compete.

At The New School such children are never excluded either by peer pressure or through a lack of self confidence, and we attach a very high priority to including everyone in endeavours they would like to pursue.

Our football team displays both skill and competitiveness, particularly in their frequent matches against the staff, and these attributes are carried through to fixtures against local club and school teams. We make sure that anyone who wants to play will be given the opportunity to do so.

Also, everyone has the chance to go camping, and those who enjoy the challenge can join in our highly successful Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme which can include expeditions and explorations in some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.

During last year we climbed, abseiled, canoed, rock-climbed, and still had time to develop skills in hobbies, arts and crafts.

Those with an interest in ‘The Expressive Arts’ (Art, Music or Drama) can take part in out regular school productions on stage, end-of-term services and concerts and performances in and out of school.  Some pupils have even recorded their own CD and promotional video.  Many of the works produced in the Art Department can be seen on the walls around the school buildings and grounds, and a lot of the ‘props’ for school plays are made by the students at The New School.

Whatever a child's interest, we will help to make the most of it, and nobody leaves The New School feeling that they have been let down by our activities programme.
