SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
The New School has a dedicated, caring and professional staff, led by an equally committed Board of Governors from a wide background of experience, and supported by parents who take a great deal of interest in the progress of their children and the School alike.
Structure
Policy and planning are the responsibilities of the Board of Governors, and part of these responsibilities includes ensuring that the School is led on a day to day basis by a competent and qualified team of professional individuals. In charge of this team, of course, is the Head. Apart from his responsibilities for the overall daily stewardship of the School he has three line management roles: teaching and curriculum; care supervision; and administration. The professional posts allotted to each of these functions are, respectively: the Deputy Head; the Head of Care; and the Bursar.
The academic and care functions are addressed on their own WEB pages, so a brief outline of the School administration follows here.
Personnel
The Bursar is responsible to the Head for the day to day administration of the School.
He is supported in this role by the Accounts Supervisor, the Catering Supervisor and the Estate Supervisor.
Areas of Responsibility
Along with his support team, the Bursar's responsibilities include:
- servicing meetings of the Board and its committees;
- all aspects of financial management including accounts and budgets;
- managing premises and site development;
- risk assessment;
- health and safety;
- fundraising.
As with every other post at The New School, flexibility is core to succeeding in the attainment of its goals.
