At The New School classes are small and the curriculum is individualised to motivate and encourage each student to learn and achieve. Support is available through therapies and key worker input, and accreditation is gathered across the 24 hour curriculum.
The New School Butterstone is an independent residential school aimed at those young people, aged 11-19, who find mainstream education difficult to access. With over 25 years experience, we specialise in education and social skills development for young people with a broad range of complex needs. We are accredited by the National Autistic Society and continually have success with young people who live with challenges such as Asperger syndrome, Autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome and Foetal Alcohol syndrome. Our flexible approach allows us to work in partnership with local authorities to reintroduce long term school refusers to the school environment at a pace which works best for all.
Supportive staff, our peaceful location and ethos of mutual respect help to encourage and motivate our young people to realise their true potential. Our students, therefore, leave us prepared and ready to move on to the next stage in their life when the time comes.
Traditionally a weekly boarding school, with day placements available for our more local young people, we can offer placements for up to 52 weeks of the year. Our experienced support staff are available all year round to provide care and respite when required.
